 I agree the list should be re-evaluated and updated on a site by site basis. Several sites were added likely because someone posted multiple links in a row to a specific ad filled website. When someone does this it appears that the poster is likely the domain owner and spamming our forum for cash clicks. Of course, it could be someone who found a site they liked and just posted the links in the appropriate threads to contribute to the thread and/or gain post count.

How can we tell the difference between a legitimate poster and a spammer? With serial link posters, we cant. Lately we’ve been taking a rather strict policy against such serial postings and quite likely banned some legitimate websites in the process.

It’s a problem and yet there doesn’t seem to be any sort of middle ground solution. If it were up to me I would allow the serial link posters to go ahead and do their thing until it became an obvious problem. Consenting adults know rather or not they want to click an ad banner but even still sites that link to galleries using REF ID code simply pisses us all off.

Why? I don’t know but it does. Someone coming in here and posting links to sites so people will click on their links and have some cents forwarded into their account. Then again if the content is new and relevant to the thread who cares if the posters making a little money. That’s not my concern. Again, IF the content is new and relevant. Serial link posters need to take care as to what they might be reposting.

why not just have clear rules: only x amount of gallery links per domain per day?

btw 2 links in a row seems to be already enough to set of that spam filter

also maybe have a policy of NO FHGs from the paysites, or do like other forums, if someone ads a paysite FHG their script replaces the affiliate code with that of the forum, make some extra money that way
