Well, the old good PeachyChat is somehow broken, so, we lose nothing in testing a new chat called ShoutBox!

The new thing is that the chat can have different views... like one "shoutbox" at the frontpage getting the visitors interested and in the future, a way to 'grab' some visitors to chat. It also introduces an idea of chatting while surfing, so it might be added to other page as well.

And, of course the classic full-screen view by clicking the PeachyChat -link on the top of the page. It's not as full-featured, but that might be an advantage as well... we don't need so many chat rooms & bugs with them.

Oh, and it should work with all new browsers, so someone should tell Julie & other Mac users to come to the chat!

Very interesting.  Im not sure if its a full replacement for the old chat...if we could have both that was be really nice so you can use the shoutbox to get people into chat.   Though the old chat went under utilized, I can understand if it gets scrapped.  Anyway keep up the innovations Vatsis, the peachy citizens really do appreciate it.

Yeah... already had some problems when people were in the different views (like one on frontpage, other in chat page).

It seems I need to manually code some parts to get it working.

I still like the old one for the features like you mentioned, but havin' the box right there is cooool. I was shocked when I logged on and saw it, I just finished moving and thought maybe something was wrong with the site at first. Good work V.

Ok, my Opinion is that the shoutbox is good in a way , but sucks in the way that we can't talk to our friends like we used to. I like the feature of the old chat although it did break down alot.

Good to have more people talking but not as good in features.

Overall, I give it a 7.5/10 for the idea of bringing in more people and having more visual, but the old chat should be brought back.

*Update* Turns out Brood could chat with everyone and I tell ya....I nearly fainted when I saw him in there Good thing I was sitting down . Julie can now chat as well (as can all Apple users) if she gets some time and comes back here .

V has done some nice work on the chat , adding a bigger font and colors . I still would like smilies and the PM feature back . I assume a room list is out because everyone that is signed into Peachy can theoretically chat . Overall , it's getting to where it is usable . I agree the old chat was better , but hey , at least this one gets people to actually use it .

It's starting to get a bit annoying.  Every time it refreshes while I'm writing a reply I have to put my curser back into the box.  Perhaps it could be removed from the "Reply" page?

I know you can shut it down while typing, but it doesn't stay closed when you move from page to page (with or without a new browser window).

i've used digichat before which has totally awesome features but this shoutbox is great in its own way vatsis thanks...

i agree with KS... would be nice to be able to have a reply page with no chat box open...

Ok, the new chatbox worked on my mac, but then the old chatroom worked for me as well. So it looks like it is MAC freindly!


Great new place, I could only drop in for a few secs before I had to run to work. But it's nice!

As I use Tabs to browse peachy, I typically have multiple pages open at the same time.  It gets annoying to see it refresh every tab once every couple seconds.

Now, when you close it, it should stay closed for that 'session' on every page (until you visit again).

Just got impersonation problem solved: all anonymous users will get 'guest_' in front of their name. So, somebody trying to be Vatsis is 'guest_Vatsis'. Only logged in users don't have that 'guest_' prefix.

Another feature: when you say 'topic=Somestuff' it sets the topic on topframe to 'Somestuff'. Very usefull to get things more organized, like hosted radio shows... pick lines that make people interested!
