Mike,

I'm not sure why editing your own post.  Sometimes I'll get that error also, but I'll try it agian and don't have any problems.

The delete tool doesn't currently work for anyone, I'm not sure when it will become available.

If trying again still doesn't work, PM me or Post your corrected review here and I'll make the changes for you.

KS,

I am having a similiar problem, i get an unknown error occuring that is logged by the site when I try to edit posts. haven't had this before.

In the future I will finish collecting new links before I post...I just don't want to look like some deuschbag who likes to pad his post count.

Thanks, Oso

Hey Osito,

There are two other bugs that I've mentioned in other threads.  None of them would help Mike with his problem...

1.  Editing posts made before April 20th may not work / or may not save.  (Especially the first post in a thread)

2.  When you jump into a thread via the page numbers located outside the thread you will need to do the following to edit your posts:
The URL will look something like:
http://bbs.peachy18.com/forums/2/26981/ShowPost.aspx#26981
You'll get a Post Not Found error message when you try to edit your post.
To edit your post, you will need to remove the /2 (page number) and refresh the page to get:
http://bbs.peachy18.com/forums/26981/ShowPost.aspx#26981
Or you could also exit the thread and use the linked title to get the correct URL.

Hope this helps,

KS

I have the same problem, getting an "unknow error" when I try to edit a post. Two days ago everything was ok.

Strange,

Chan you all give me examples of when this happens?
-The URL that you're tring to edit the post from (just backspace from the error page)
-The date of your post you were trying to edit
-Any computer info (Internet Browser, OS) info may also be of help.

Thanks,

KS

KS,

Sure, I am trying to edit a post in the Diddy and Serena thread:

http://bbs.peachy18.com/forums/2/11426/ShowPost.aspx#11426

When I do so I get this:

http://bbs.peachy18.com/Msgs/default.aspx?MessageID=999

I see the "2" you were talking about, I will check that thread and see what I need to do to correct on my end.

Windows XP, MozillaFirefox(I just made this my permanent browser)

Thanks for the help KS, Oso

I've yet to be able to get the unknown error #999,

I typically get the Post Not Found error (because of the page number being in the URL)
http://bbs.peachy18.com/Msgs/default.aspx?MessageID=9

One possibility is that the server was just too busy to process your request and gave you the generic error.

Does this only happen only with certain posts?  If so please post the URL's and date of your posts that you were able to edit.  (just try a post that you've recently made even if it doesn't need to be edited).

Also, if everyone would, please go back to the post you were trying to edit and try it again.  Perhaps it was just a momentary problem with server resources.

If anyone needs their post edited and still can't do it, just PM me and I'll make the necessary corrections.

KS,

No problem editing the above post. I will browse through the threads you put up and see if eliminating the page number will do the trick. I tried to edit the posts in DiddySerena thread and it did not work today, no big deal I saw Mike's post and thought you should know about it.

Thanks, Oso

Thanks Osito,

Was it the same "unknown" error, or the "post not found error" this time?

Copy & paste from Firefox-URL-Field:

http://bbs.peachy18.com/forums/EditPost.aspx?PostID=95962&ReturnUrl=%2fforums%2fShowPost.aspx%3fPostID%3d20161

URL =, ?, / unencoded:

http://bbs.peachy18.com/forums/EditPost.aspx?PostID=95962&ReturnUrl=/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=20161

In both cases i get an unknown error.

The date when it was intially posted was 4th May 2005, 12:38 PM.

I'm using Firefox-Browser Version 1.0.3, the Problem is not temporary, I tried it several times without success.

(Edited: I'm able to edit this post, is it possible, that someone switched off editing for nude fanclub?)
(Edited2: Next try)
(Edited3: No problem to edit this post again and again)
(Edited4: But I'm still unable to edit the above post in thread
JULIA (from MET) #2 )

Hope this helps.

Thanks mrspock for posting, I'm also getting the same results as you.  (The edit page comes up, but you'll get the "Unknown Error" when you click post.)  This problem is much more prevalent with older posts made on the old bbs.

I believe that when you run into this problem, there's nothing you can do to fix it.  It's most likely a bug in the forum software that that your post has been caught up in.  The editing permissions are correct for the entire bbs.

Perhaps once Vatsis has some more time he can look into it, but I don't think it's high on his priority list right now.

I remember some time back there was a clearout of dead and redirecting links from the 'Top Requests' forum, (as it's called now), are there any plans for this to happen again?

Seeing as editing and removing links no longer seems possible in most, if not all of the threads there, it must be a frustrating experience for newcomers ploughing through long threads where an increasing percentage of the links don't work.

It's frustrating not being able to help by cleaning up your own posts, but I guess it's just a case of grin and bare it for now?

A few months ago Vatsis tried out a script to remove them, but it didn't work so well.

While Vatsis was on Vacation we discussed a few options on how to best do this, and came up with many possibilites.  Vatsis has stated that he'll work on another solution that will make it easier, but right now his priorities are with the shrines and updating the fourms.

I'm sure it will be talked about more once we get closer to a solution that doesn't invlove removing old threads (like in the past).
