You all know how busy I am... so you might not want to bother me with minor tweaks. However, I some of them might be easy to fix - so list them here:

What's bugging me:
- emoticons look corny Right Hug and give me a headache! Sexy smilies back... Umbrella
- no page list (1, 2, 3, 4) when browsing the posts, only at the bottom
- not always is the input box focused with a blinking cursor (like login box - fixed that to search box)
- when I post a msg it redirect to page 1, even I want to see my post on the last page
- some banners are too big and take too much space vertically (mostly fixed)
- ...

apart what you mentioned already, I noticed there is quite a lag, when you type a post.

emoticons: don't know what exactly you mean with corny, but these are just the standard MSN emoticons (Hotmail, MSN Messenger etc.) and there they look the same as they do here.

Liked the previous P18 emoticons much more. Not to mention KS' smiley's.
(btw can we still use the KS smiley's? or did I miss something elsewhere...?)

Agreed, I don't care for the standard emoticons.  Until Vatsis has a chance to updated the "quick smilies" (the ones that appear next to your reply box), I've updated the smiley page with all of the old ones.  Be sure to add it to you favorites so you don't have to search for the link each time.  New instructions on how to use them are at the bottom of the page.

I don't know if this is a "minor tweak" or a "major headache"  but I think it would be neat if....

The Users online display had our names in different colors

i.e.
Admin (Vatsis) one color
Moderators another color
Then regular members would get different colors that would depend on their ranking (i.e number of posts)

would it be possible to have some kind of 'notice' of incoming PM's (like we had with the old version) on the homepage of the BBS?

A blinking icon or something similar.

Not supported at the moment... but should be on the next version of the forums software. New versions come out every 2 moths - we can wait for that.

Reply box tool:

Many of the reply box tools that we had are now gone.  I thought they were very helpful.
I've already used
-aleignment tool to center txt and pictures
-"bullets" for listing things
-underline tool
-break link tool to un-link dangerous url's

I think all the tools pictured below are helpful and would appreciate having them back.

That was a painful decision I had to make.

Some GOOD things about having more tools:
- good looking posts (when people start using them)
- professional looking posting window :)
- maybe more clear posts (bulleting, numbering)

Some BAD things about them:
- only 1% of posters use them
- some might get confused and turned away from posting
- loading speed (every image adds to overhead...)

The bad things outweighted the good things... I have big plans to make posting easier, inside the posts -list (just click 'reply' and a box comes out) like in googles gmail.

However, if I come out with a solution that would hide the advanced buttons but make then fast to use if needed, they will make a comeback.

Hey, that being said - are there any other Mods needing those buttons? I could easily make them visible to all Mods/Admins, but not for other people.

Judging from the rapidly decreasing number of posts a.w.a. visitors, believe that making P18 more accessible should be the most important criterium!

Even for Mods too many buttons can be very confusing....

Vatsis...

first thanks for working all the time to make peachy better... it is really appreciated...

you said above...
"What's bugging me:
- when I post a msg it redirect to page 1, even I want to see my post on the last page"

• this obviously doesn't matter on single page threads but on monster threads like abby winters or skinny girls it would be great if you were redirected to the last page instead of the first...

• you also mentioned on another thread that you could adjust the "refresh" rate for the main page or even turn it off. the only time this seems to interfere is when typing a post or creating a thread. I don't know if anyone else has this problem but if there was a longer wait for the "refresh" it might help...

thanks Vatsis...

Sorry, but there is no refresh -setting when adding a new post. Your problems must be due to this FreeTextEditor -component... it sometimes doesn't allow copying/pasting text and loses focus on slower connection.

However, the refresh setting can be set bigger (now it's 10min) on the frontpage and when viewing the topics.

As some mods may not want all the formatting tools, and some non-mods may want them, I suggest making a new RoleID that has them available (assuming that's possible).  It should then be pretty easy to add them to those that want them without affecting those that don't.

Sorry, but having a new RoleID and configuring security & forums access would be too messy.

But, I already have other plans in my mind... like making the advanced buttons hidden (like the seach-button on the top of the forum view) and coming visible only when clicked. Or making a section in userprofile where you may choose if you like to use the advanced tools .

Dis, that was already discussed earlier in the thread.

I've also noticed that you can't reply to any thread in "Surfing Tips" and in the subforums, you can't attach a image.

Possibly a temporary bug (possibly b.o. yesterdays merging of some subforums to Gen.Chat). You could move it to another board, then do what you want to do and move it back again to the original board where it came from.
