Please have a look at this screenshot (scroll all the way down):

http://whitetara.100free.com/wtf.html

As you can see there's over 30 GB of corrupted data on my HDD. The strange thing is my HD has a capacity of 8GB.Tongue Tied

I can't get the files removed manually. I've also tried windows to clean it up automaticaaly, but that doesn't work either.

Is there any program for dealing with things like this?

I run win98 on this pc.

Thanks!!

hi,

with your PC in this state, I hope you are able to read this.
Sign-up with HFT Online:  www.hftonline.com

(it's a free forum, used and visited by computer-users world-wide).
Describe your problem as well as you can in a post in the virus/Trojan section.

download Hijackthis from:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

{HijackThis is a program developed by Merijn Bellekom, a Dutch student studying chemistry and computer science. One of Merijn's programs, Hijackthis, is an essential utility to help find and remove spyware, viruses, worms, trojans and other pests. Hijackthis is used world-wide}

Run Hijackthis - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DELETE ITEMS - and paste the log with your post to HFT.

Follow their instructions exactly.

Have you considered purchasing a new PC, installing it with more up-to-date software, and transferring CLEAN files from your old PC. Just a thought. mike.

Thanks!

Well, actually it is my second pc. I bought a new one a year ago and it absolutely rocks. I use the older one when I'm at my parents house, so it's not such a big deal after all.

Thanks for your advice!

it can be a virus, but it can be a hardware problem
a diskcrash or failure in the master file table of the hard disk.
So i would first run test and repair routines
rightclick on the driveletter and let test it for failures and bad sectors.
