KS, exactly right. Basically in illustration #1, your internet recieves only 25% of the total cable signal, while in illustration #2 your internet recieves 50% of the cable signal. The internet modem needs a stronger signal than your tv does.

Also, since the cable line in my yard was replaced in late winter I have not had any problems with either internet or tv. Glad I did not switch to DSL
