Disabled the preview-pics function on request a girl, top requests, teen themes because of the new US 2257 regulation.

It's still unclear if the preview feature will come back later... the new regulation clearly states that I'm a second producer, so all banner images, thumbs from TGP and such are under 2257. However, both Google & normal forums do NOT fall under 2257 because they are "uncontrollable (too huge) and made without profit". So, avatars, posted attachements etc. are not under 2257 even they are hosted from my server (public interpretation made by other forums as well).

I'll see what happens to Google Images and AskJolene preview pics - if they won't pull them off, our preview pics will make comeback. Stay tuned...

not good to hear this, the preview pictures makes the live confortable and faster.

Well I hope these come back, they are the main feature that makes peachy stand out from the rest when searching for model IDs (not to mention the helpful and knowledgable members). I fear my time at peachy might be coming to an end... Thanks a lot, Bush.

I, like many others, will no longer be able to help people with their requests now. Without preview pictures I simply haven't got time to click on each thread... only if I recognise a name would I be inclined to have a look now

I thought you were looking into hosting peachy on a UK or European server, Vatsis? Is that still a plan?

Oh, and one more thing, if attachments are "uncontrollable" and therefore outside 2257, could a thread preview be somehow generated instead from the attachments people post? I've no idea if this is possible anyway, but then I guess you wouldn't be a secondary producer (as the members submitted all the pictures)???

We're currently 60-percently on EU servers...

Having thumbs from attachements is a nice idea - however, we should avoid using attachements when it's not needed (=just for previews) because it's technically very stressing for db server (current version of our software fetches all images from the db). Just keep those ideas coming...

Like matadorstuff said it's gonna kind of hard for to help people out but I, like the other mods, are sure to do the best we can.

   I NEVER use the preview thumbs for ID's. Come on here... Are you telling me you guys ID via looking at the preview thumbs here on peachy? I for one think that they were nice as for the look of the peachy page, though that was about it. For those of you who actually found a use for the thumbs, as super said. The mods will help out.

Back in V2 when I was using the preview thumbs, every so often I could ID the girl and set just by the thumb :)

But it doesn't really affect my browsing habit, I'd look at a thread thumb or not.

I can usually ALWAYS ID the girl by the thumb, but reguardless I do check out the post.

I also used the thumbs for most of my IDing. 

I'd typically open the gallery linked on it to see if I thought she was here, or to see if I wanted to look for more.  It saves time so that you don't have to load each thread.

Should we have to keep them down, it would be nice to have the "link" picture outside of the thread, so that it's easier for everyone to check first before opening the thread.

Well, like I said, unfortunately I don't have time to click on every thread in requests... but at least with the previews I can usually scroll through the unread threads when I visit peachy (I'm not online daily), and make a snap decision whether I recognise or don't recognise a girl. The time saved doing that allows me to click on many of the threads with no preview pics, or those with unclear preview pics, too. Only speaking for myself, but now I just won't have time to browse through the hundreds of weekly requests, if I have to open every single thread.

@Vatsis - thanks for the explanation - of course, I should have thought you wouldn't want to encourage attachments in every post.

@KS - agree with your point about the "Link" feature - in fact until you mentioned it I never thought to click on one of those "Link" buttons. Doh!

I understand that. That's why I've suggested in an another thread to allow everyone, who starts a thread, to submit a small preview picture. As a great side effect the posters of an requests would be able to choose a picture, which represents the girl (or gallery) best and we would also see previews for galleries, which are not compatible with current preview function.

I know, you've already said, that current forum software doesn't support that, I'm just trying to make a bit promotion for this idea. Is it really difficult to change the forum software in this way? The current software is doing more: 1. follow the first htm-link 2. find first picture 3. scale it down and cache the thumb 4. view the cached thumb. My suggestion only needs step 4 + submit function.

And if there is difference: Make a rule in plain english. It's ok if the rule is more restrictive than the law to ensure that peachyforum will never get in conflict (e.g. restriction to NN, plain head-shots + no cum, no cocks), place it in big red letters on bottom of submit function near submit-button.

Well, there is more work for the user, but he gets much clearer and more expressive pictures, therefore more admirers will find it, which means more help.
