Is it just me or has this place been a little slow lately? Seems like nobody is posting anything lately!

the only time i can really get online is while i'm at work and get on the wireless network there. i've confgured my laptop to connect to a proxy server to bypass the websense internet filter but i'd i dont come on peachy just incase i can still be tracked. i guess everyone is running out of ideas for things to post. I made me "Stranded on a Desert Island thread a sticky because i wanted everyone to post in it. if you check out the new fanclub girls discussion thread its become pretty active.

Well another two weeks and everyones back at school

Sadly, it isn’t just lately.  The general chat here on peachy has been dying a slow death for at least 4-5 months now.  I know for a fact I’m not the only one longing for the glory days of the general chat circa Peachy V1.  Hard to believe that was barely more than a year ago now.  In that time however we’ve gone from unique, creative, and original thread topics with thought out posts, to a simple spattering of polls and porn.  Most of the “originals” and “regs” have abandoned ship for exactly these reasons, (this isn’t a knock against newer posters, most of them seem great).  I hope it’s not too late to save this place but I’m afraid it is.  Hope this train wreck burns slowly.

Yeah, you know its bad when I actually was ranked on the Top 10 posters list...and yes, things have been slow....its summertime which means luge lessons, making meat helmets, and the ritualistice shaving of testicles. More to the point, was there a serious demographic change since the switch from v1, you bet, but many of the old schoolers come here and check on the place from time to time....its always nice to see someone like Scarface pop up in the Funny Stuff section(see4yourself). Unfortunately the lack of depth to most of the recent Gen Chat topics IS directly correlated to new members. They should step it up and post about things other then porn...or maybe vets from v1 should
rekindle some old threads and/or reproduce their level of intrigue and substance.  I feel like a sap now....complaining about the glory days. Well I am very busy with research and writing so I will make a pledge to post with higher frequence and meaning. There!!

 Cheers, Oso

Osito said it too.

I've been still visiting here about once a day, but nothing in gen chat has really made me excited to post to it. Maybe if we can come up with some new threads (or re-ignite some old ones) we can get this back. Maybe Scar, Cowboy, Kase, Klchr, Cin...Dis??? and some of the others will find this place interesting again. Let's see what we can do. Yes [Y]

This is not a knock on new members. Remember, this is a porn site overall, but would just like to see if we can rekindle the fact that Gen Chat was a really cool place to visit.

Exactly...I certainly did not mean to knock any of the new members either and I will point out the simple fact that a lot of people used to come here simply for Gen Chat, or do there "business" and then come in. A majority of my meager post total are Gen Chat. For a lot of those people the porn brought us here but the Chat made us stay, I hope some of the new members will have the same experience.  Peachy is my first and only forum, I have gone to other spots and been labeled "Lurker" or "Leach" (literally under my screename) and been ripped out by many a "Twat Mod" who I can only envision in the likeness of comicbook guy. Whatever, with that aside I hope that our new members will post more then three words concerning the most-recent Paris Hilton photoshoot mishap or Catherine Zita-Jones nip slip. I want to hear about something a bit more substance. I used to actually think when I came here...I loved telling people that I spent a lot of time at a forum based on porn, but spent most of my time writing about cannibalism, cigarette addiction:

or one of my alltime favorites:

Seriously if you're new here, scroll deep into the Gen Chat archive, there was even a Stereogram Club at one point. Just don't be afraid to post anything about anything....and the Veterans: "Where is everybody?"

ok so we are all complaining about the lack of creativity..

Rather then complaining about it, lets come up with some ideas..  its great to sit on the sideline and say this place is boring and then do nothing about it..  lets open our minds up and come up with something..

I myself have tried to start games and what not, only to have them drop off, much like Survivor, which is in no way porn, but rather picking the hottest girl..  But at the rate its going now, there will be no one left to vote in a week or two..  I've tried topics, such as XBox Live gamers, only to have no one at all respond..  you can't tell me there is no one on peachy who plays XBox or XBox Live..

We just need people to get involved and actually come up with ideas and things that people can relate to and want to talk about..  while not alienating them..  by this i mean not complaining about what people post or being offended by every little thing..  keep an open mind..  I do agree though that there is to much porn, videos, rapidshare, and what not in the general chat section..  which is fine, but there were 6 refering to rapidshare or videos..  which is fine, but should they really be in general chat?  I also think and nothing against anyone, but since the fanclubs went away with all of the links to the girls, I think its dropped off.  Also with the search being disabled..  I don't know and I don't have the solution, but I think we all need to try to come up with something..

From my observations it seems that only the members that have been here for some time and chat as regularly as they can answer the posts. New members rarely bother...sad but true.

I am fairly new here and I often forget about the General Chat postings. I will however from now on try to do a better job of contributing to what I think is one of the coolest place to visit on the web.

SO, Look for some new stuff in the near future.

i think another thing, that we on peachy need to do is try to get the general chat more out there..  I think most people just think this is nothing more then a post the girl your looking for site..  they don't even bother looking down and seeing the general chat section..  we just need everyone to get involved

I wish I had more time for gen.chat, but all I have now is a few ideas -

1) Moving "Discussion Topics" (with General Chat) to the #1 section, just above "Requests". Maybe people will then click it first? However, "Requests" is a good way to get new registered members... and it's our trademark to post/find new girls. But, things change... maybe we have so many old members that we should change our main forum as "General Chat"?

2) Disabling the PeachyChat. Just kidding :), but really it's since PeachyChat got more popular, the regulars started spending more time there... meaning less time for posting. PeachyChat is not the problem, but maybe trying to make it support General Chat more... like having it's topic changed by the hottest topic in General Chat?

3) Showing latest topics on the first page. Showing the 3-5 topics on General Chat might get some people interested - I've noticed that I regularly check only the "Last Post" -column on main page to see what's hot.

4) Enabling the Search and indexing also General Chat. ...so the old topics could be dig out by new members. It has always been my dream to index also General Chat, but with our current resources it's quite imposible... but it shall happen when hosting get cheaper & the new version of software comes out.

5) Banning anonymous users from PeachyForum. Well, it could mean we'd lose some lurkers because they don't want to give out personal info... but for those willing to register, it will lower the bar for posting.

6) Making General Chat more visual. Now when almost every forum has "preview pics" GC is starting to look visually old-school. Maybe generating a preview thumb from the attachement file and showing it with the subject could make it more fun?

7) Getting girls in the General Chat. Hey, not just the pictures but the real ones! When Julia & Pey posted regularly, I do also admit checking many times a day what they had to say... maybe posting a link to PeachyForum on "a teen lesbian/bi forum" Big Smile [:D]? Or, just asking a girl poster on PeachyForum to check also GC...?

8) Allowing Anynymous users to post in General Chat. Potentially very dangerous option... might get spammers & flamers excited. But again, they can also choose a nick and do what they wish... the bar would be extremely low to post for the new users. It would need lots of moderation, though...

What has been already done: Posting faster (no more waiting for a minute to get a msg posted).
What I'm not willing to do: Competitions (people should post just for the fun of it)

those are all some interesting ideas..  we definitely need to figure something out..

I do like #3 though..  it might help to get some interest of some of the users who don't normally check out the general chat..

Vatsis, always responsive and accomodating,

I would only disagree with 5 and 8, I lurked for a little while before posting...as a lot of good people do, forcing registration would do more harm then good.

Moving the Gen Chat topics to the peachy.com would be awesome, may encourage more people to actually come in anonymous, check the joint and then register, although request a teen is what got me to register, once i realized its power, so I would keep that at the top, but then i realized were all not "one-hand surfing" this forum.

Please no anonymous posting, everyone's got personality here, opinions need a handle...you might end up with some provacative posting but you leave yourself open to like you said spammers and idiots, not to mention morons who will undoubtedly post hate-posts, if you disagree with an anonymous poster on some topic how  are you supposed respond if they don't want to id themselves...

Blah blahblah, thanks for taking the time to address this stuff Vatsis.

Regards, Oso

i agree.. it was nice to have a female presence on the board, even though some of us tend to drool and what not when there are females on here..  but yes it shouldn't all be males..  otherwise we'll get bored..

Wow, I never thought my post would evoke such a response, maybe I was wrong (It may have happened once before), this place can be reborn!

Maybe good ole' V is onto something here.  With  Renae and Kase gone, Julie married off, and Fauna only posting in the other sections, I'm the lone remaining carrier of estrogen left!  That's just way to much pressure to deal with now that I'm back at school.  Since I don't really venture anywhere besides general chat and the chatroom, if there are any new girls hanging around that I don't know about, it's up to you guys to get them in here.

Crazy idea #2:  Start recruiting your wives/girlfriends/overprotective mothers to drop a line.

Vatsis - Personally I'm not real keen on the idea of allowing "Anonymous" users to post here.  Like with other things.... it's quality not quantity.

I've said this in my thread and in others but I'm going to say it again here.  I've met some very cool people and made some very good friends here.  I had no idea what a BBS was before I fell assbackwards into this place.  Never would I have imagined that first day when I struggled with the concept of "posting" something on a website that I would be here all this time later.  So once again, thanks guys.

-Pey
