Dave Bischel is my cousin :( I heard some nasty stories about the prisoners treatment, but some horrible stories about how the government treats our own men over there. They were forced to live in horrible conditions, not fed well and poorly armed. He went on regular patrols in V1 Hummvees that were not even bullet proof, and though he signed up for a 6 month tour he was gone for over a year, they promised him just 1 or 2 more months quite a few times. All this with a new baby at home.... I have a lot of problems with our government, but this is really pissing me off.

Oh my gosh David must have it really bad. *sarcasm* What in the world was he expecting when he joined the military? Either way going on patrol in a humvee can´t be nearly as bad as being forced to commit homosexual acts. Tell him to get over it.

Wow your a big ASS!!

He didn't personally force anyone to have homeosexual acts, and he has been of the few to speak out about the attrocities of the military long before these pictures came out. What did he expect when he signed up for a 6 month tour of duty with the National Guard? He expected to guard the Nation, not be sent off to some other country, away from his wife and new bory child, and he certainly didn't expect to be lied to by his own government as to whether or not he could go home and when. If it handn't gotten so much media attention on this end (his wife and several other wives did lots of interviews with local NBC reporters) he would probably still be there.

He must have had it really bad? Let's see, he didn't sign up to go get shot at, and not only did he have to, he had to live for months in broken down buildings, with no running water, no showers, conditions that the UN would deem not fit for human living, and then come back to try and expose the bad things that were happening to have jackasses like you say stupid ass shit about him.

For your info the Army had all the comforts of home and nice equipment, since the national guard isn't even supposed to leave the country they did not have the proper equipment requisitions. And you try driving through Iraq in a non armored American military vehicle and tell me again how not bad it is.

I dont agree with the war, and I certainly don't agree with the actions taken recently, but if your gonna go and say shit like that about someone who had to suffer some horrid treatment by his OWN government for doing nothing more than signing up to protect his country IN his country...

It's morons that like you that get the world the way it is now... "it's worse someowhere so shut up about your own problems" but I bet you had your red old neck out there supporting the invasion because "life wasn't good enough over in Iraq". Your a friggin idiot.

I apoligize for the personal attacks against your brother. Either way the treatment he recieved as a soldier is not as bad as the treatment of the POWs in the photos. I also said something about being "forced to commit" homosexual acts. I know they weren´t literally forced to commit acts. But as a muslim with a very strict set of moral guidelines, the actions they were forced to commit would be a equal equivelent.

What are you talking about? The national guard isn´t expected to go eversees. Bullshit. My dad spennt about a year oversees as a peacekeeper in bosnia. He too also left at the same time that his youngest child was born. He had to stay on only properly approved "mine free" areas. And he too was shot at. however he never complained about it.

Not to mention how ironic it seems that you say he joined the military and did not expect to get shot at. I can´t comprehend what role he thought soldiers played in wars if he assumed it didn´t have something to do with shooting.

I guess he didn't read the pamphlet very carefully then, that is the National Guard, they guard the nation, they are for internal protection. They are our internal defense, they are not supposed to be shipped out, because when you ship out our internal defense... we have no internal defense.

And yes you can sign up for the military and not expect to get shot at, at least not expect to get shot at overseas.

My point here is that I am so pissed at the government for screwing up both sides of this, there and here. With their people and ours, I don't see any real winners here accept the companies who get the rebuilding contracts and fossil fuel industries.

The government goes and oversteps it's bounds even by definition of the UN (and still no WMD) then some of the troops make really bad moves, teh government who was in charge denies responsibility even though it was clearly brought to their attention, meanwhile abuses the good faith of people lie my cousin who signed up for one leg of the military and then were forced to do the work of another leg, not only that but he had already served his full enlisted term, he was on a re enlist for 6 months only, garaunteed, and now the government sits back and lets people like my cousin who joined the military to protect the country, not go slaughter people in another country take the heat for something the brass at the top should have stopped.

And as for your dad in Bosnia, some people don't mind doing whatever they are told (don't mean that in a bad way) but some people join under certain sets of rules and expect them to be followed, especially when we are going around the world forcing people to follow our rules. The rules for my cousin were broken and in a very bad way, and not just him, but lots of people, but the coverup for it is huge because people like to come out and say "you joined the armed forces, the armed forces are there to go kill" well sorry, not all people in teh armed forces join to go kill, lots of people join to protect, but I guess protect is not good enough, we have to be preemptive now, or in other words do whatever we want and justify the means by the ends (btw has the "end" to this war which was officially over a year ago justified defying the UN?)
