1) I have several mpegs that are over 700 megs in size and can't be burned onto a single CD each. Which software would you guys recommend that has the ability to cut such a file into two or more scenes that are each independendtly viewable?

2) What about software that allows one to splice together several short clips such as those found on free sites?

will any of these video software programs do this - have a small (1MB .wmv) video file, and would like to copy just the audio portion from it and hopefully save to/make a mp3 or even wav file? thanks.

yes, with TMPGEnc you can create audio only files from mpgs. It outputs into either mp1, mp2, or wav files.
