Add pictures from our own PC hard drive?

As it stands, am I correct in guessing that we can only add galleries/picture collections from existing sets online?

Like nearly all other websites, wouldn't it be better to include sets of images added from our own hard drives, thus negating the harder relevancy search for online galleries?

Thanks for the idea - you've got a set for a girl / fetish on PF and would see the trouble of uploading it to online and support us that way! Unfortunately, uploading sets isn't preferred on PF. Still, a few user uploaded pics are great when asking for an identification.

But, having "only" online, existing galleries is quite adequate! If we collect enough galleries on topics from different sources, most likely we see "it all". There's half a million topics in PeachyForum, some of the most popular ones having tens of pages and hundreds of galleries. I'd dare to say, there's more to see then in most of the porn sites (and I've been in a many in the past 15 years :).

The list of reasons, why we mostly use existing (online) galleries

1) Bad image hosting might otherwise cause problems: Sometimes low cost free image hosting sites go offline, or even ban PeachyForum. It has happened before, causing thousands of sets to go offline (for PeachyForum members only). And we don't like those "get pennies from us for linking to our sets" image hosting sites, since they have lots of ad spam. Most of the galleries we link don't have popups etc at all.

2) Site owners will go mad: We did allow sets, but sometimes people uploaded more then 15 images / set. That artificial rule was to keep the site owners from forcing us to take those sets offline. Even the resolution of the images is an issue for the site owners, since putting too big pictures on the sets were considered "stealing" from their sites.

3) Moderation: If our members would upload the sets to our servers, it would give us one more thing to moderate - we don't know if every one of the images is really from the sponsored site, legal etc. Also bandwidth costs would increase quite a lot, and there's just no money from galleries without to be linked to sites.

But keep the ideas coming, I love to go thru those reasons once again in my mind and see if there are any workarounds/solutions to get things more easy to help our cause.
