How can one add a model to their discussions by favorites without "Braking The Rules" and not having anything to contribute to that forum at the time?  Or is this against the rules as well...

In short, you can only add a thread to My Discussions by making a valid post in that thread, but you can add a thread to your Favorites at any time you like and without contributing anything to it.

Can a favorites feature be added? With a search feature.

Saving our favorite threads would be better than having to look them up all the time.
