...how do you like them? Text-ads should be less annoying then flashy banner images. I'm still testing them so I'm taking suggestions/comments/complaints etc...

They look alright, though you may want to make them non java based. Using Firefox (most popular amongst porn surfers) + the “NoScript” add-on I wasn’t even aware that there were ads, until I read this post and temporarily allowed the script to run.

They need to be JavaScript, since they are coming as a feed from an other server... maybe I even want to keep it that way, now they can be "turned off" when needed by just disabling JS.

At least they are not insulting our intelligence, like those "click here for messages!" or "you've won!" -ads. Otherwise I'd run them in a sec. Also ads to online casinos are forbidden, since they tend to cause people financial problems.

Nice adds men, I see you've been updating them a little. I know this is a cheeky question, but tell me Vatsis, how much do you get paid for them? Big Smile

Haha, I hate traditional Finnish food. Btw, fish-cock (=kalakukko) is an interesting name as a direct translation.

I can’t say I’m a fan of Adverts on websites but I guess it had to happen to Peachy at some point. As long as they are just text adverts and not really annoying flashing images then I guess I don’t really mind them.

Does this now mean that linking to websites on the Signature is now allowed?

(I don’t plan to link to any website but I just wondered.)

I was just about to comment that the new adds linked to streaming sites. But found that it was already metioned.

Im surprised those sites don't get shut down with millions of copyright claims.

http://www.rude.com   Their ads are all over Peachy....  (streaming video site)

BTW seems you are using every empty corner now for filling with ads. Becomes rather 'crowded' now.  Well, pecunia non olet....(raha ei haise)

I keep wondering why there are still so many fools clicking those ads....

a suggestion to keep this site respectable

I understand ads are a part of online forums and such, and this change is a work it progress - but nearly all the ads coming through are for the shit sites nobody should ever be vising anyways.

If you want to push ads, find out how to push direct ads for Met-Art, for FTV, etc. This site stays respectable, the industry gets good advertising, and $$ can be earned through the referral links.

There's no point having an ad up for
Date Married Lonely Wives
Meet Hot Local Wives Looking for Sex.
Nobody believes it, and it only does a disservice to everyone advertising the shit that's out there.

Ah, Rude.com... that's Dee's site. Mostly "preview videos" from DeeCash, so basicly a fake tube-site: http://www.xbiz.com/news/news_piece.php?id=93433

It takes a week before I can play with the numbers - most likely some of the ads will be gone, others placed otherwere.

Good alternative for the ads would be asking for donations, if I'd just find a way to make them possible (mobile micro-payment?). If 150 members would pay $1/month PeachyForum would make more without the ads... however, everyone want's free stuff, so I guess it wouldn't work either.

Good idea. However, the problem with sites like FTV/MET are that everyone already knows them (oversaturation). In addition, people tend to surf to MET/FTV from the gallery links, when they have seen the pics... so they are already went out from PeachyForum from an outbound link. That's the main problems with forums like ours.

What it comes to ads insulting our intelligence... well, I'm not even nearly concerned about the clicks, since I mostly sell "page-views". So, don't feel bad for not clicking them - you won't be hurting Peachy's income. And well, the sad thruth is, no ad has performed better then "Click this"... and the advertisers know that.

Like I wrote on an other topic, I could have tried asking for donations & keep PeachyForum clean. Maybe 0.10$ from thousands of users every month? However, there doesn't exist good micropayment (mobile?) processors and for real, people want everything for free... that wouldn't work anyways. Sad

But hang on, after a week we'll see what's the best strategy for our forums.

I know, lets go to a pay by clicks ad service and put up a link on the front page that says “Do not click here!”… You’ll be filthy rich! lol

i don't mind the ads...you gotta do what you gotta do...

but on my peachy screen the ads to the top right of the peachy "emblem" barely fit on my screen (the last one is half cut off)

any way to locate the ads in just one specific spot?

Does that cause a horizontal scrolling bar?
