to Gary Lohman, an architect, and Diane Dunham, a bakery owner.After a
childhood of performing musical theater in Palm Springs, CA,
Alison Lohman turned down a scholarship to N.Y.U. in favor of an acting
career in Hollywood.
She landed her film debut in the thriller
The Thirteenth Floor at the age of 20 and soon was offered a role on the WB family drama Safe Harbor. She was given top billing in
White Oleander in which she played a starring role
and has also played important roles in
Big Fish and
Where the Truth Lies. She played in a key role alongside
Nicolas
Cage and
Sam Rockwell in
Matchstick
Men, in which she portrayed a 14-year-old, whereas in real life she was actually 22 at the beginning of the film's
shooting.
