For those who don't know what my comment or Pete57's reply are about, the "skinny girls" thread has lurched into the "anorexic and mentally ill" region, in the last few months. While I was posting there, about once a year or so, someone would post some pics of a girl who was clearly destroying her body by self-starvation, in a way that showed the classic form of severe mental illness called anorexia. Whenever that happened, I would post a strong reply, saying that the thread should be limited to skinny-but-healthy ladies. Not long after I declared that I was leaving, two guys (bridb as the leader, and westred as the follower) showed up and starting pulling the thread strongly in the direction of anorexia, and girls who are clearly, obviously, and seriously mentally ill.
Pete, if I thought bridb respected other people, then I would respect him. My disrespect for him does not come because he and I have different opinions. Instead, it comes from a sincere belief on my part that he is the kind of person who preys on the sick and the weak, and who wants approval, validation, and support from others while he's doing stuff that nearly any "healthy, caring, and sharing" person would regard as wrong.
If you think bridb is "doing okay", you need to define whay "okay" means to you. My sense, from a scan of that thread, is that postings by anyone OTHER THAN bridb and westred have dropped way, way down, and that most other former posters have decided to start avoiding that thread, because too many (not all, but too many) of the images that are showing up these days are of women who are clearly sick, diseased, and mentally ill.
I don't doubt at all that there will indeed be a few guys who are attracted to those kinds of pictures, the same way I don't doubt at all there there are guys whose sex lives have been terribly crippled and stunted because they suffer from some fetish that has grown beyond an occasional "walk on the wild side", into a cancerous and malevolent problem that has taken over and pushed out the healthy, caring, and sharing parts. However, regardless of whether there is some small number of guys in this world who might keep the "skinny girls" thread going BECAUSE it now focuses largely on terribly sick and mentally ill women, I think it's a real shame that it has lost the grounding and focus it had for many years, on ladies who are skinny but healthy.
