I noticed the Richard Bach title above; of his I suggest "Illusions: Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah"

Also:

"Finn" by Jon Clinch just came out on 2/26 and it is fantastic! It is the sordid [aka seriously fucked up] backstory of Huckleberry Finn's father with impeccable detail to the original characters and settings.

I'm a big history buff and I'm currently going thru a book called  "The Black Donnellys" ... it's about an Irish immigrant family who lived near Lucan, Ontario, Canada in the 19th century.

It's a tragic tale that plays out because of a huge misunderstanding and leads to a bloody massacre ... so much so that until recent years (and even still) it's an unwritten code to not mention the family name in that area of Ontario.

good thread, shhs.

well, well, well ... Hollywood has made a TV show using their name and, shockingly, Americanized the whole thing.
it would've been a cool reality show - where people actually got murdered if the lost "the challenge."

Obituary: Kurt Vonnegut

What a sad day. I haven't responded on this thread because I don't get much time to read anymore. But Growing up Kurt Vonnegut was one of my favorites. So now I guess I can list the books that I thought were worht reading when I grew up starting with my favorites of Kurt Vonnegut.

Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle" (1963)- Sci-Fi

Kurt Vonnegut's "Jailbird" (1979)-Fiction......a good story of corporate America and human weakness

Anais Nin "Delta of Venus" (1969)-erotica......or any of her books! She wrote some of the most erotic books I have ever read which is unbelivable since she started writting them in the 1940's. Some of her books (like Delta of Venus) are short stories and some are her diaries and personal life. "Little birds" is another great short story book. She was an amazing women and her diaries are also great!

Sgt Randy Sutton "True Blue"- True stories from cops around the Untied States. Some of the stories are funny as hell, some sad, some eye openers and some heartbreaking. A good easy read book.

 Great artical Shhh!

But this did make me laugh.......a quick way to die??? I for one don't want to find out!

"
The pathologists discovered various unhealed wounds on bones that showed how these executions could have taken place. And these are consistent with depictions on reliefs from the time showing a kneeling man having a sword rammed through down his throat into the heart. A very quick way to die."

WHO, WHAT, WHY?
The Magazine answers...

A tour of a space facility in the US apparently prompted Prince Philip to ask how astronauts deal with "natural functions" in space. So how exactly do they go to the toilet (or should that be the loo)?
