Isn't there CD burning software alreay built into Windows XP? Try dragging & dropping files directly onto the CD burner icon in Explorer....

Free CD burning software under windows is pretty rare, unfortunately. I think you can do most of what you want within XP. If you need to burn an entire ISO or BIN/CUE image, try Alcohol 120% http://www.alcohol-software.com/ It has a free trial period of 30 days at least.

On the other hand, if you want to consider ditching Windows altogether, Linux has two really good (& free!) ones, K3B (http://www.k3b.org/) and Nautilis Burner (comes prepackaged if you install the Gnome desktop, http://www.gnome.org). *sigh* unfortunately, migrating from Windows to Linux is still a bit of a leap of faith, and I advise against it (or at least keep a windows partition handy) if you play games more advanced than Solitaire. Anyways, this is the wrong forum to really advocate this. My tho.
