Did you know? -

The Mongoloid army during the 13th century smeared goat's cheese on their heads because it rendered them invisible to their enemies? Below is a picture of such a warrior.

There is actually more cheese collected beneath a dairy farmer's foreskin than in the whole of France?

Stilton cheese makes you gay. It's official! Do you really want to put anything with blue veins in your mouth?

Emmental is widely banned in the Middle East, known as the slut of cheeses, it is considered to lead men astray with it's plentiful orifices. However in Asian countries like China it has been introduced to help lessen the population growth, it's silky, yielding texture has led it to become the male population's favourite love toy.

More cheese facts next year.

Dear Quantiq

It occures to me that when you go to see The Canaries tomorrow. It might be a good idea to pop over to the Directors Box and ask for some diet advice.

OR! Try eating any of the above with about eight pints of Adnams Fisherman Ale.Zip it! [:#]

That last "humping cheese" cracks me up....but bleu cheese rawks, as does swiss and sharp cheddar. Oh and I can't forget that artificial nacho-cheese slather.

As promised:
Some facts blatently stolen from other sites.

The exact origins of cheesemaking are debated or unknown, and estimates range from around 8000 BCE (when sheep were domesticated) to around 3000 BCE. Credit for the discovery most likely goes to nomadic Turkic tribes in Central asia, around the same time that they developed yoghurt, or to people in the Middle East. A common tale about the discovery of cheese tells of an Arab nomad carrying milk across the desert in a container made from an animal's stomach, only to discover the milk had been separated into curd and whey by the rennet from the stomach.

Camembert cheese inspired Dali to paint 'The Persistence of Memory'. The painting actually tastes better as well.

Gouda throwing was considered for an Olympic sport but overlooked for Synchronised Swimming.

To be called blue Stilton, a cheese must:
  • Be made only in the three counties from local milk, which is pasteurised before use.
  • Be made only in a traditional cylindrical shape.
  • Be allowed to form its own crust or coat.
  • Be unpressed.
  • Have delicate blue veins radiating from the centre.
  • Have a "taste profile typical of Stilton". ie fuckin' awful!

The most disgusting type of cheese I ever ate was Cacio Marzu from Sardinia(Italy).  A Pecorino type of cheese in which larvae are allowed to develop, which eat, digest and defecate the cheese, transforming it in a creamy and very piquante tasting cheese.

It tasted delicious and I wished that nobody had told me the story behind it.   Maybe one shouldn't always exactly know what he is eating.....

If you know any one from the Midwestern State of wisconsin, the chances are that that person is a fan of the Green Bay Packers Pro Football Team. Wisconsin, being America's Dairy Land is filled with "Cheseheads" and that is how they demonstrate their loyalty to their fottball team.

Attachment: knafeh.jpg

I was hosted recently by a businessman who travels often to the Middle East. For desert, we were served a desert called "knafeh" which consists of shredded wheat and white sweetened (0 salt) cheese (must be goat cheese) and plenty of syrup. Delicious, but I cannot describe the taste. I googled "knafeh" and this is what I got:

There may be a few gross cheeses out there, but the vast majority are way too delicious for words.

Seriously cheese in most any form, on, in, around, through,... is delectlible. A dinner which ends without cheese is like a beautiful woman with only one eye. Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (French lawyer and politician, epicure and gastronome, 1755-1826)
