Hi,

I'm looking for the best way to download files from www.usenetbinaries.com without having to manually select each thumb, then d'load file. The thumbs link to html imagepages.

I've tried Offline Explorer, but somehow can't get the settings quite right. As an offchance I also tried Mihov. without success. One or two other progs didn't work cause i couldn't install them properly (must be stupid i guess).

So....any tips? or maybe the Offline Explorer settings?

thanks upfont. You've made my day =))  -  mike=)).

Try http://www.pictureview.com  It's a (very cheap) paysite where you can do batch dowloading a.w.a. zip-files.

Plenty of 'backdoors' for Pictureview available on the net.....

as far as i know "rip-rigger" only works at "rip-...". I'll check usenext, and also funkys suggestion....
Normally Offline Explorer should work, as it will do practically anything, but getting the settings right appears to be very difficult...

thanks - mike =)).

well...errr...yes and no.

It DOES work, and is quite nice to use......BUT....although Pictureview uses the usenet.binaries database, it does not have anywhere near complete access. Many of the files you will find on usenet are non-existant at Pictureview, and there is no way you can use Pictureview to download directly from usenet. I've sent an email to the support at Pictureview about this, but so far no reply. So its back to the drawing board for now....

do you have a paid account on usenetbinaries  or just a free account. There are Dl limitations and that could be the source of your problem.

I might be missing something here, but why not download the files directly from usenet? Use a decent newsreader like XNews and get a decent server for usenet access, and you're done!

My ISP has a very good usenet server, for example, and I've only once or twice a year had the need to get fills from another server...

Most ISP's (approx. 75% worldwide) don't facilitate access to Usenet newsgroups.  It differs from country to country, either because they are forced by local laws or b.o. the fact a lot of 'shit' like ao.CP can be found in newsgroups as well.

Ah, that explains a lot - I was under the impression that most ISPs offered usenet access, allbeit not always a decent kind of access. My bad.

I use Newsbin Pro and it is, without doubt, the best program on my computer of any kind and the most used, by far:

http://www.newsbin.com/

My ISP has news service but it's not as comprehensive as I'd like so I subscribe to Giganews and have Newsbin configured to use their news servers:

http://www.giganews.com/

I have the Platinum plan as it allows unlimited downloads.

Trust me, Newsbin rocks. You'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

As an aside, I also use DC++ as well (the most comprehenive file sharing protocol I know of). You can find ANYTHING in the known universe using it. The amount of available content is probably in the millions of terabytes.
