Supposing, for any reason, you actually wanted to download the whole set, without spending half an hour's mindless clicking. What is the fastest, most efficient way to do this? Which program would you use? and how does it work exactly?

Several programs tackling this are available.  But Vatsis doesn't like this to be discussed here, because such programs could be (mis)used here as well.....
