What do you think? A newbie I am? Sure I have thousands of Anya's pics with original resolution. That is why I can tell whether they did a great job or not. E.g. the pic above, given the lighting condition and appropriate setting (probably ISO 100 f/5 1/125 i am not sure), one can do a better job with Nikon D200. And they in deed did better job in later sets.
Noise comes from high ISO settings. All CCDs, being electronic devices, unavoidably produce some low level of digital noise, but you don't usual detect it because the light hitting each pixel of the CCD is so vastly greater than it. However, when you increase ISO, you decrease the ratio of light to interference, hence introducing what is observable as noise in the photograph.
