Ever since I updated to Firefox file version 6.0.0.4240 it has really been pissing me off. I've looked everywhere and the only solution (Doesn't work for me) is to edit about:config and change network.dns.disableIPv6=false to true.

Once -rolling- FF works great as normal but it seems if left idle for a few minutes than the next site I visit can take 20-30 seconds looking up..

Imo this is ridiculous. Anyone having the same problem or a possible solution?

With FF5 I had some problems, went back to FF4.  With FF6 no problems whatsoever.

I has issues with my XP computer.   So i switched to my 7.

Trying to make it useable. I downloaded FF 9.0.  BIG mistake.

Looks like they were trying to imitate chrome? very strange browser.

None of the buttons in the composer / editer box works.

I can't edit preview pics with it.

I would sugguest everyone pass it by.

I live via FF for a browser, even when it fails. Apparently it doesn't go well with XP (What I was on at the time). I heard rumors that windows put out an update that intentionally caused FF problems on XP, but haven't seen any actual proof. Running windows 7 with FF 8.0 and it's working great for the moment.

Take a look back in history at programs that supposedly upgraded to "better" versions. The first, older, tested versions are ALWAYS better, more functional and more secure than the upgrades.

That's interesting. FF has been very slow to start up, and the shutting down process takes along time aswell. Been happening for a couple of months now. Am using XP.

Just installed FF 9.0 using XP SP3 and it works like a sunshine. Quick and smooth.

It seems users have different experiences....  Maybe the number and sort of add-on's/plug-in's could influence performance.

Best thing I ever did was starting fresh.....split drive into 3 sections....10g transfer.....20g XP.........80 Ubuntu. And 10g for start ups security etc. The MS reporting system, has to be checked on each update....it switches back on, crafty!. Must say that even my security programs seem to regard MS as a 'virus' ?. If youve been using FF for a long time?, a check to see whether you have loaded new or just overwritten might be worth it. I use Win. XP, but there is a better version of Firefox named PaleMoon.  Try that, it is very fast and efficient.  FX tries to cover all the oldest computers, PaleMoon uses the same equipment as FX, the Gecko rendering engine, but it just tries to cover XP and newer computers.

I have a small but nagging problem. How can I put a blank line between paragraphs in a post. I'll have 3 or 4 small paragraphs in this quick reply box, but then it gets delivered as one big blob. I tried writing it in TextEdit (a text editor) here in Mac, then doing a copy & paste but there was no change.

I use Firefox as a second browser, mainly because it has a few useful add-ons/ plug-ins such as Imagehost Grabber (IHG). However, one of the later updates of Firefox discontinued support for IHG (and several other tools). That has now been fixed by IHG by making themselves compatible with the new Firefox instead of the other way around. It is important to get the add-on directly from the IHG site, as otherwise no support is provided for the continuous stream of host updates.

My first browser is google chrome, as for some reason it seems faster than the rest. Third and fourth back-ups are Pale Moon (which is an independant skeleton version of firefox) and opera. IHG works fine with Pale Moon. Although I do have IE, I do not use it for several reasons, chiefly privacy related.

A short note on IHG. Ever visited a website with loads of clickable thumbnails and no zip downloads? Of course you have, because Peachyforum is one. You have to click each image individually to view the full-size image and often get loads of pop-ups, pop-unders or other unwanted crap. IHG will grab all the full-size images on the full page with just two clicks.
