i was so sorry to hear yesterday that Bob Denver had crossed over.this again was overshowded by a death in Wash.d.c. judge "whatshisname"? as was when RAY CHARLES passed as well as Ronald Reagan.I would love to think "W" thinking he was laying GILLIGAN to rest, but he's not that cool to be that bumb.anyway my thread is about GILLIGAN and what that show may have ment to you when you were growing up.for me i remember Bob as Maynard G. Crebbs from the Dobie Gillis Show in the early 60s.i rember Gilligan from 1st runs with the "Hillbillys" and other shows on sat night. and comming home from school in the 70s to see reruns on channel 17 here in Atlanta,which was owned by Ted Turner which went on to become[well you know]. Gilligan was on 24/7 here in Atlanta it seemed like. you could quote lines from eps. word for word. this was a "GRAND" thing,if we had only knowned back then. BOB DENVER was, is so much of an ICON for American pop culture. just your thoughts here on BOB and if he made you smile,or ment anything to you. yes ,i know he loved the "herb" can you blame him???

Wow, this is the first I have heard about this. Bob was great, I have been watching Gilligan's Island since I was a kid. There is nothing like that show anymore. Even though the sets (looking back now) were kinda cheesy and fake, it kinda took you away to someplace else for a half hour every day. What new shows can say that?

I know some of you younger members have seen the show and have smiled {maybe an illegal smile] but a smile none the less.if it wasen't for GILLIGAN would we not have the question of "GINGER or MARY ANN" ? which has led to so many debates,not only here but at your local beer hall,dorm room.[ by the way Mary Ann gets my vote.] GILLIGAN was a" HEAD " before "HEADS" was cool.

I am pretty young, I like to think anway...certainly caught reruns.  Denver was hilarious, but who didn't think of ways those folks could have gotten off that island, but did anyone really want to leave? There's something more to that...good guy, certainly remember hearing something in the past few years about him cruising around his property naked...all the time. Lots of acid and something about drugs in the mail. God bless him, guy brought a lot of laughter to me and many many others...

Well of course growing up I did fulfill the childhood obligation of spending unending countless hours watching Gilligan's Island reruns over and over and over. Laugh thought I'd die? No. I do believe not once, never. I remember always watching and always feeling so frustrated with each mindless episode. My friends would giggle and laugh as they saw Gilligans wacky antics. I just saw Gilligan fucking everybody up over and over. And they all would just stand there and take it over and over. "Dammit you guys! kick his ass! Just kill that asshole, go fix the goddam boat and make Ginger and MaryAnn get naked for christ sake!"
