How come search box does not bring up submitted sites?

Started a thread today, I always make sure to see if it's been posted first, by entering most of link in search box. If that does not bring a hit, I type in only the site name (www.whatever.com) in search box  and that did not bring any results.

So I made the search ever shorter using one word (whatever) and still nothing in seach results.

After that I made a thread and there was a duplicate thread merged into mine within minutes. I tried to look up thread by title (started by another poster) and search would not bring up the thread using the exact same title.

I have seen this problem with things I have tried to look up for a while here. I checked my search settings. Seems I get more hits back from peachy by using google, but not from the site itself when typing in site name should bring hits.

Don't know.

Thanks for reading, hate making duplicate threads, more work for me/mods and more importantly if it's here already I want to find it and not start a thread.

FWIW, Google seems even things limited there for peachy (unless I know exact name/site)  until I ask for more serch results, then I ask for more discussion results.

I did that after using http://peachyforum.com/search/advanced.aspx >> natalie straponcum and found thread within seconds....

Using the right search criteria is essential.  Starting with minimal number of words (models name & site) a.w.a. "sorted by" drop-menu

Thanks Funky, used basic search doing just what you did, and was not in choices, when I went outside to google it appeared. Guess will see if advanced is better option, but in past basic search seemed to find everything or provide plenty of choices.

Appreciate the response and advice.
