Well, I joined quite some sites and I must say I never had any problems. Most sites use a safe company (like ccbill ...). Only thing you have to keep track of is rebilling (cancel your membership in time if you don't want to keep paying next month), and some tricks like at bottom of page when you pay an option is selected that says "yes, i also take a trial membership for site XXX)
