KM Player...and why it's the only media player you need

For something that's free to download KM Player is the best media player I have found so far.

These are the main reasons why:

1) It has no problem playing (and re-playing) Flash Video Files unlike VLC Player, Windows Media Player and many other media players

2) It allows you to (easily) take snapshots of videos

3) It plays virtually EVERY type of media format that exists. I think the only video format it can't play are Realplayer video files but I could be wrong

4) You can make the viewing screen as big or as small as you want

5) When playing videos you can make the picture: darker, lighter, sharper, rotate it, slow it down, speed it up, reverse it, etc, etc.

If it is what you say it is, maybe you want to post a link for us to check it out? Confused

Interesting that KMplayer is ported to windows. I prefer Smplayer myself, a bit better interface (same engine).

I tried many players and I prefer KmPlayer. I have been using it for almost 2 years and I think it is the best.

Besides everything Lister69 wrote I like the fact that you can use it to make copies and re-encode clips while screening.

I often want to keep only part of a movie. When I reached that part I just click on capture and it copies it. And if you want to change a format you can do it at the same time. You can read a Quickime file, .flv or whatever, copy it to your hard drive and change it to .avi or .mpg at the same time. Very useful if you have to use that clip afterwards with a software that does not read these formats or does not properly handle heavy files (like Windows Movie Maker).
I like sound and picture quality and all the adjustments we can do... but at that leel it could be more of a personnal taste.

I don't think it's the KDE KMPlayer that you're thinking of. But yea I use KMP too, have for about a year, it works great and it's light on system resources.

Just to clarify, KMPlayer can play realplayer files. If you couldn't play them for some reason let me know but as far as I'm concerned I've never noticed any problems.

To the people suggesting alternatives, could you list differences of why your suggestion is better? I'm sure it would be better for someone viewing this page if we could present the pros/cons of available free media players.

I will give it a try...I've been using VLC player for almost everthing and the only trouble I've had is with divx encoded .AVI files which I pretty much have to play on MS Media Player.

As much as I know the KmPlayer has keyboard shortcuts for the usual functions and frame control as well. (I did not checked which of the 2 players may have more but the KM has all the ones I need.)
