I've tried and tried again but Windows hates me, so, fuck Windows. I have a feeling it will be even worse when Windows 8 comes around. I've formatted my drives and gone 100% Linux.

Now, it took me about three days of Googling to get things working as I wanted in Ubuntu. I don't know why some of this stuff doesn't come pre install, but after a ton of research I think its working pretty great! Except a few small bugs.

I tend to set up my computer for multimedia, so yeah porn videos. It is awesome that you can use VLC or Movie Player to save a screen shot. Then under properties use that shot as the default thumbnail for the actual video file.

Anyhow, in Nautilus it's driving me nuts that there seems to be a massive gap between thumbs. Using icons view at maximum scale it only shows one thumb per horizontal line, three at medium. See the screenshots below:

For now I'm just using List view at max scale but it sort of sucks. Is there any way to get rid of that gap / padding? Perhaps a better file browser? Any info would be appreciated.

Would also be great if I could hide the file names and just see the thumbs.. :/

Hi Hunter......Welcome to linux (at last), Not sure what youv'e managed to find this time?, there's a nice thumbnail template in open office/libre office. also a portfolio temp. in the main browser, just be careful how you reference your shortcuts(double check the destination,I had to play detective once or twice). Thanks drum I'll look into it. Trying to get GCstar up and running. Problem for me atm is installing ANYTHING takes a great deal of research and doing. Would suck to be a hacker trying to install spyware on my OS lol.

I have years of Windows behind me, but this is all new. I'm sure once i get sorted and situated I'll come to love it (even more). I have a Windows 7 pro disk but I'll be damned if I ever go back to that bs.
