Title says it all . Are there any free ones out there or do I need to spend some money for WinRar?
Thanks to all in advance

7-zip is freeware, and opens also RAR.

The version I'm using is newer than that one, and I see there's now an even newer version.  This note is simply to second that, yes, 7-zip works nicely opening RARs.

Please, do the world a favour and don't use 7-Zip. 7-Zip, while it does work, does not use the standard zip compression. As a result of that, you can open all zip files, but others are not always able to open your zip files (created with 7-zip).

Why not stick with WinZip for zips, and WinRAR for rars?

why  bother when winrar does everything no need to use winzip too

besides winrar might tell you the trial has expired yet itll still work forever all you gotta do is close the little box that pops up
