http://macenstein.com/default/2010/05/not-exactly-what-apple-intended-the-ipad-to-be-used-for-warning-nsfw/

I was surfing (at my work :) to find more about Ipad and how it could be tested to work on PeachyForum when I saw this nice vid and got lost for a sec...

BTW: Has anyone tried our forum with Ipad? Min price for the cheapest Ipad 16GB is over 1000$ here in Finland, so I won't be testing anytime soon... :(

Officially not yet introduced in Holland.  Expected to be available end of May 2010. Official salesprices not yet known.

On Dutch EBay-like sites 16GB IPad's (brought along from US) on offer at EUR.700/800.

Too expensive for just another gadget.....

I have learnt that IPAD does not even have a USB Port/Drive.

From WIKI

Connectivity

Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, introducing the iPad

The iPad only has a dock connector for wired connectivity and has no ethernet networking or USB ports.[10]

I was in the market for a portable device for traveling. I didn't waste a lot of time on the iPad. Decided on a refurbished netbook. Larger screen, more memory, expandable, more versatile (I write a lot). A whole lot cheaper. A lot of people will like this, but I suspect a number of people who bought it will wonder what they were thinking. Good (but expensive) device for passive activities (videos, music, reading), but not much else. vacuity

Tested it yesterday. It's thin but I'd still need to buy a bag to carry it. Haven't used one since graduating. Maybe with half the size and more "book-like" - two monitors and foldable? That way it would offer real multitasking/reading support. And with "electric ink" with colors, or what they call it on the e-books. Price should be below 200 euros.

I have a simple solution.  It is a little smaller than "book-like" but it gets the job done.  It's called an iPad-mini, or as the rest of the world likes to call it, an "iPhone."  It does everything an iPad does, but lighter, smaller, fits in your pocket and an additional feature allows you to use it as a phone.  Another advantage of the iPad-mini is that is is about a quarter of the cost.  I have one of these "iPhones" and use it all the time, but when I want to type somthing that doesn't require me to stare at my fingers/keyboard and cramp my hands because I have to hold them above the keyboard and not rest on it as I type, or use multiple applications at once, I opt for my Macbook/PC/Tablet/Netbook.

I bought a 16gb wifi only ipad whilst on business recently. Have a family of five and thought someone may find it useful but not me, I like gadgets, have a powerful PC I'm happy with, not really a mac fan.

It sat at home for a week pretty much untouched and then it got popular.

My wife uses it for family photos and such like, my two year old loves it for spelling/counting games, I travel a lot and have found it great for videos etc on long plane trips, my teenage son uses it for games on car journeys and train trips.

I know laptops and other devices can do all these things and better but thats not really the point of the ipad as far as I can see. The point is it does all these things easily, no booting up, no switching user accounts, no hassles, just pick it up and use it. Try getting your two year old to fire up your PC etc.

I'm now using it for ebooks and have retired my sony reader.

For me the ipad is more than the sum of its parts. Sure - compared to the competition it may look underpowered etc but its got somrthing special.

No, PeachyForum really doesn't work on an iPad. The main column on both the home page and threads has a width problem and a lot of content is cut off and inaccessible.

i got myself a 32g ipad for christmas but returned it cause it was exactly like my iphone 4s. it was the exact same thing but bigger. didn't need the same device twice. on a second note, i can get and sign into peachy on my iphone but the page is only partly loaded. the problams must be because of the lack of flash on apple products
