Registration now required to view adult forums on PeachyForum. It's partly "a test", since I'm not sure if our servers will handle over 100+ logged in members... but we'll see. This far (1 hour after change) everything is still fast as ever.

1) The main reason is of course that since we have the tech to protect our peaches from the "midgets", we should absolutely use it.

2) Only a year ago I asked for people not to log in for faster surfing... Even the servers are now better, many people are still afraid to log in or think "it's better for the forum". No, it's not, and we should never be afraid of the popularity!

3) Legally, to protect PeachyForum it's better to have a sign-up form what you must agree to (that you're 18+ etc.)

4) We also get a better picture how many visitors here truly are (and how many views the threads really get).

5) Marketing view is also important - we're not a forums with 10 to 20 members, time to show the real amount. Showing popularity brings in people... and in addition, when all are already logged in the bar to post should be lower (well, at least people not logged in don't post).

Hopefully you understand.

Still, no-one complaining?

Maybe I'll then start: Smile

1) PeachySearch will die in a few months - since Google cannot index the posts, it will drop every thread on Request & Archives. A major problem, since we don't currently have any good alternative search engine... but I'll come up with some solution, that I can promise.

2) Some like to clear their cookies / surf cookies off. Well, that's a problem for sure, and we've even encouraged people to be extra careful. Well, if that will be a problem for many we may start making some documentation how to prevent PeachyForum cookie from being removed.

Lots of people (incl.myself) use software for automatic HD cleaning  after closing browser (like EvidenceEliminator or WindowWasher etc)

It could be helpfull to give the exact denominations of the cookies.

Are there only 2 ?  (peachyforum.com and peachy18.com) or any others with some 'cryptic' name ?

-------

You know that I allways was in favour for access for members-only, i.o. to limit number of 'guests', provided of course server can handle it....

(BTW on mainpage I still see Guests and Members who are on line - different numbers...)   http://peachyforum.com/user/ViewOnline.aspx

PeachyForum cookie is "peachyforum.com" for keeping you auto-logged in.

Peachy18 cookie is "peachy18.com" and only used for "Peachy Basket" to store your favorite list of girls - not so important if you don't use the feat.

Sorry, but that feature hasn't worked since a very long time anymore.  With old version of the forum-software only occassionally; with the new version not at all anymore....

Does it depend on what browser you're using ?

Damn, didn't know there were still problems with that.... I've been logged in for at least 4 months with Windows XP x64 and

Firefox v.1.5.0.4 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; fi; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/20060308 Firefox/1.5.0.2)

and

Internet Explorer x64 & x86 v.6.0.3790.1830

Haven't tried with Safari or Mozilla...

I went to the "View Online" page. So many people registering just while I was there. I bet membership doubles in 1 day. Drunk

Like you Vatsis I'm always automatically logged into peachyforum (but, perhaps like a fool, I am still using IE). So for me the registration requirement is a good move... hopefully will increase activity, and make sure minors are kept out.

I'm pretty sure they are all guest, since the Goole/Yahoo bots only visit 1/month. However, even if I tried to cut down the amount of people accidently visiting PeachyForum by not directly linking here at Pechy18, some of them might just close down their browser when seeing there no images on the main page to click.

i don't use anything like evidence eliminator or window washer, but if you use firefox, you can do a lot of nice things with cookie management, especially if you use one of the extensions that are available. you can keep the cookies you want while the rest disappear. i haven't had to log in since forever as i've protected all my peachy cookies.

as for anyone using IE, well, all i can say is, what would you do if you found yourself holding a flaming pile of pig shit? that's right, you'd drop it. well, same difference.

Changed "cookie expiration" from 1000 seconds to 1 year - maybe you'll now stay logged in?

This new US-registration virus really gets out of the hands - now even superheros effected: Big Smile

Marvel Comics at Center of Superhero Controversy

Marvel comics has come under fire from superhero fans for unmasking one of their stars at a fictional press conference. Enduring crusader Spider-Man unexpectedly takes off his mask in front of awaiting reporters and snappers at a Washington publicity call in Marvel's latest edition, revealing the identity he has battled to keep secret for 44 years. Peter Parker agrees to the unmasking after federal legislation requires super heroes register and reveal their identities in a crackdown inspired by the deaths of hundreds of children at an elementary school when a battle between heroes and villains spills onto their grounds. But Marvel's editor-in-chief Joe Quesada reassured disgruntled fans on Wednesday that the unprecedented move is a positive step for the comic adventures. He said, "It is arguably the most shocking event in comic book history. It can be very intimidating if you don't know where the story is going or how it ends; we do, so we're just excited about where it takes us and the story possibilities it offers."

Still doesn't work with Opera.   (Tried with IE6.0 for a brief moment, there it works)

Thanks anyway Thumbs up!   (There are worse problems than this....)

Hahaha... pretty interesting stuff, since I still love to read spiderman... they are getting pretty interesting, first they killed Wendy (tens of years ago), then here revealed his identity to Mary Jane, at one time there were talk about the lost children of Peter Parker etc. etc. but I guess they are trying all the means to make the comics more interesting since the kids now play games / go to movies.

Noticed that only the Requests and Archive sections require a mandatory registration/signing-up.

All other sections are freely accessible.  That leaves open plenty of 'backdoors' for lurkers to access threads in ao. Requests and Archives by means of eg. Index threads etc. ......

That might also explain the number of 'guests' which still appears on the mainpage.  (Sometimes more guests than members)

Nope, not possible - as soon as you click on a link to a archive or request thread, you are asked to log-in. Works pretty...  Good Job!
- at least with my browser. (think everyone knows the details by now)

Could be...but there is also another possibility/ could be another cause for this!!
What happens if a member signs-out, but leaves the sign-out page open, so he can easily sign-in again...Won't he be counted as a guest then??? Confused

That's the only explanation I've found... So - a member is in a "private forum"; then logs out and there's a msg "your now logged out" and then he closes his browser. For the next 15min he will however stay in the statistics before the session times out... but his status changes to "guest" and his current location doesn't change to "logout page" but it stays as a "private forum".

Explains why there are so many guests and why many of them are in the private forums... unless there's really a backdoor.
