Cigarettes cost $5 in Finland, but only $0.5 in Bulgary... that's my excuse for starting smoking (again) after 2 years.

Now, are there any ex-smokers in here? ANd how did you stop it? Or did you start again later?

Just trying to keep up the motivation to end smoking... last time managed to do that by chewing snuff bought on a cruise to Sweden. A bad habit that ruins the bed-linen.

Quit 4 years ago and haven't thought about it since. Stopped cold turkey cause. The first 3 days were the worst. Besides, cigarettes cost $7 a pack in NY. Just to expensive.

Any old week fuck can quit smoking....
But it takes a real man to face terminal lung disease.

Paying big bucks for cigarettes impresses people.
Beside, Smoking makes you look cool.
And the chicks dig it.

Vatsis, take it from a 20 year snuff chewer... don't turn to snuff...it's more addictive than cigs. Nasty stuff, I'd almost give my left nut to be able to quit.

Wait, wait...let's break this down. We talking about snuff or "chew"???

big "V" if you picked up the habbit again, within the last week for so, the best thing for you to do is quit NOW cold turkey. Your body will adjust to it within 72 hours providing you JUST started again.

I'm pretty sure we're talking about dip, pack it in your lip not your cheek.

i too quit...once for almost a year, yet i smoke now, exercising helped me big time, go run even a mile, try smoking a cigarette after and you'll be disgusted, sunflower seeds and gum help. A little smokeless tobacco turned into too much too quick.

Remind yourself, as I am now, that it is terrible for your body, plus think of all the lap dances you could get if you didn't smoke?!?!

Good topic I hope there are some real quitters who could offer advice and suggestions, it would be appreciated.

I see people at the hospital dying of cancer all around me everyday. The cancer floor is VERY depressing and all the patients up there are usually all pricks because they have cancer. I've sat thru a couple of lung biopsys and thats some nasty shit. they stick a long ass needle in your lung to look for cancer tissue.

I'm still now giving up my Marlboro Blend No.27s

I tried quitting cold turkey 30 years ago, wasn't too hard but took a few years to complete. My brother didn't quit till a bad bout of pneumonia and then started again, was back in the hospital right away, did that a few times. Now he doesn't smoke, but he does have those fancy oxygen tanks and air lines, even a special extended cab truck with room for a travel tank.
I live in Maine where smoking has been banned inside public places like bars, I'm one of the few who really likes it, now I can play music at them and not smelllike it.
This is the first time I haven't just checked this site for Jordan Capri.

I'm not an ex-smoker, I'm a non-smoker. that is I've never smoked a cig in my life, so I can't relate any stories of trying to quit myself. But, both my parents were hardcore smokers and both quit cold turkey at the same time. I honestly don't recall either of them having any problems with it and that's been probably 25+ years ago. The main reason they quit wsn't for health reasons, just plain old economics. They had a hard time raising me and my bro and when they realized how much money they spent on cigs, they decided it wasn't worth it. At one point, they were buying cig tobbacco in 5 lb. cans and rolling their own. They even had me and my bro helping them.
It makes me mad when I see parents who cannot afford to clothe their children or put a decent meal on the table, but can seem to come up with enough money to buy cigarettes, beer and lottery tickets.

Argh... ya smoking is bad... I dunno I just don't get the smoking thing... what is fun or refreshing about inhaling smoke? When someone smokes next to me, I usually say oh wait... let me get some arsenic and acid and throw it in your face to see if you like it... not many people smoke next to me...

It's all "between your ears"
If you really want to stop, you will succeed....

But nevertheless, it will help as well if you do it together with somebody else (stop smoking that is...) i.o. to support each other.

Many years ago acupuncture by an old Chinese doctor in Chinatown of Amsterdam did help me as well.

But again, you MUST want to do it....!

Since 30 years I'm now smoke-free

Went from 3 packs a day to nothing. Coming up on 2 years now. First I just decided I wanted to quit. Also cigs are just to FUCKING expensive. I decided I had better things to spend $60 plus dollars a week on.

Thanks for your support!

Tomorrow it will be 7 days since I stopped... at this time I've been using only 24h plasters. They really seem to help compared to gum or inhalators, which constantly remind me of my old habit. Now there's many hours when I don't even remember cigs... and then to sleep.

I've always thought that cannabis should be leagal - but if it's as hard to get a rid of, don't think so anymore.

About the plasters: 14mg Nicotinell.

Well done on the seven days!

Giving up smoking is hard work, and unfortunately lots of people don't realise that. I must have done that one a hundred times before getting there in the end (5 years ago)

Accupuncture worked for me. That and avoiding going out and dealing with people and the world as much as possible for the first month.

Personally I have my doubts about patches but the important thing is to keep trying until you find something that works for you.

I monstly trust in the power of mind - the patches might well have only placebo healing effect. But they work on me -- did I write placebo? Hmm... ARGH!
