I've had it with Google. Period. If your wondering why, here's an entire forum devoted to Google hating (I Googled it)

What search engines are decent, and trustworthy? If it's possible I'd like to find an alternative and never have to visit that dreaded website again.

Hate to admit that inspite of everything Google searchengine i.m.o. still the best...

I'm no technical expert, but I've considered the problem of Google. On "Coast to Coast", on AM radio, I heard a question from Katherine Albrecht, Ph. D from Harvard, the leading consumer privacy advocate in the U.S. http://www.katherinealbrecht.com/  She asked what commercial entity does the greatest volume of business in the world? The answer: it's Google. And what do they charge you & me? They charge nothing ! What other valuable product comes free? So what gives?  Just this: they record every Google search we make. Data base on everybody. That gives them great worldwide capability. We can only guess what use they will make of it at the highest levels of political & economic power. Remember J. Edgar Hoover's files, that he kept in his home, and that were destroyed within hours of his death by unknown persons? While he was alive he was more powerful than presidents.

Chose Yahoo for a basic start page / search engine. Looking for a better image search though. Am I the only one blacklisting Google? I prefer privacy, even if I'm only looking for daisys in the spring.

Google is not the saviour everyone thought it would be after all.... Googles omnipotence more looks like a new BigBrother (George Orwell 1984 revisited....)

In the beginning we all embraced Google after they toppled 'amateurs' like AltaVista, AskJeeves etc some 10-12 years ago.

Their new controversial PrivacyRules take effect today Mar.1.2012......  (Plenty tricks available to circumvent all that, but it means a lot of extra work and irritation for websurfers)

If history repeats itself Googles success will turn against them in the end.  No empire lasts forever.

However, fact is that for time being we are all having a love/hate relationship with Google lacking a real good alternative.

 

 

I always thought I -had to have- Google to search the web but fact is I never tried any other search. Ive found that Yahoo doesnt get as many results but low and behold the results are relevant and I can still find what I need.

The fact that a corporation can hold more specific information about each individual than its own government is just disconcerting. Perhaps one day Google can go to war with the banking system to try and own the world lol.

Given the acceptation of the occasional youtube video Im fed up. I use no script to block Google analytics and other Google products. Its too bad so many sites use Google crap. They bought up every company that could span the web, such as recapcha.

Fact is you can avoid Google but its tough to block them since so many sites, including Peachy, use their services. I call an end to it dammit.

I want to use my computer and the internet without worry......and I hate having to think up or create ways round problems like this. The hackers are laughing and the ''spam sites'' are rubbing their hands in glee !. Ok, alot depends on what your trying to access (?), legal or not ?. Also where in the world you live, err?, and your own 'moral code'. The proliferation of wi fi, makes avoidance so easy. So I'm giving a bit of a warning here, not advocating that this is an option. Sitting here at home, I can access up to 30 unsecured hubs belonging to my neighbours, who have all installed wi fi WITHOUT SECURITY. When approached none had any idea of this, assuming it was 'automatic'. A simple piggyback proxy and someone can access anything. Bit awkward when the police turn up. Ok, advice to those in theUK, Sky ir nstallations never seem to be activated with security, they leave it to the user. To the rest of the world, check your system.....now. Drum

Oh cool, using noscript it seems there are no buttons for reply on peachy unless I allow the googleapis script. anyhow..

GOOGLE has insisted its new privacy policy is nothing more than a simplified method for collecting every last detail about you until it becomes you.

The big friendly search giant said it was baffled by an EU legal threat to its new privacy policy, claiming the changes would just make it much easier for it to know all that can be known.

The company said: "It's especially unfortunate that this legal challenge has come from Europe. We really liked them. Particularly the one called Brian who seems to be based in the Stevenage area and spends most of his time sending angry, disgusting emails to his ex-wife and searching for 'silk baby chimpanzee underwear'."

Just use Bing, and tell everyone else to. Microsoft may be anti competitive but they're not half as evil as Google is becoming.
