I'm really dissapointed that the search tool has been disabled!!!

This was one of the main reasons that I used Peachy.  Now I am going to have to find another site to find all my favorite hot babes!!! SHAME ON YOU PEACHY

Nobody is really pleased with it, but I guess our webmaster Vatsis had to choose the lesser of several evils.

As an alternative you could bookmark the links of the threads you often visit and add links to your favourites.

Moreover, you could allways trace the threads in which you participated by clicking 'My Forums' on the mainpage or from the roll-out menu at rightbottom of any page. Quite easy, especially if you don't have that many posts.

The way I've been finding threads is by using the GoogleSearch link -- as first posted here

Oh, and the index I made for google is here: http://www.peachyforum.com/forgoogle.htm - it might help in searching if you know the girl has an own topic.

I've been able to find most threads with it.

It's about 2.5MB, so if you think you'll use it more then once it would be best to save to your HD for future use (saves you time and us bandwidth)

It contains only approx.20% of threads incl. locked reposts.

If everybody is starting to use it might take the whole BBS down...........

I know I've said it before but peachy just can't function properly without a proper search tool. Especially as many of the old "www.peachyforum.com" links I have saved for reference no longer work, since the change to peachyforum.com. I look forward to the search returning eventually.

BTW, if you have an old peachy link that doesn't work, it might be worth your while copying the Post ID (the number) from it and pasting it into the generic URL:

http://www.peachyforum.com/forums/PUT-POST-ID-HERE/ShowPost.aspx

For example, Rebecca Coleman's thread was...

http://bbs. peachy18.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=61887

...but is now http://www.peachyforum.com/forums/61887/ShowPost.aspx

Not too easy when you want to revisit a request posted months ago! I hope we'll get a search tool back sometime...

this hasn't been a problem to me because if you knew the link to the search it worked =) but not anymore =( but i suspect that the moderators are using a search.

so perhaps there could be some limits applied to the search so it wouldn't be harmfull to use.

Tomorrow, I'll try to bring the menually improved search engine back. If it still takes the whole site down, we need to close it and wait for the next version of our board software (December?).

I know exactly how you feel. It's a real pain sometimes, but my advice would be to submit a comment or link/pic into the desired thread. That ways the thread will appear under "My Forums", a much better way of organizing your fav threads.

Have you considered enabling it but restricting its use? I'm not sure about this bbs, but with VBulletin you can do things like restrict users to 1 search every minute, only search through thread titles, impose greater restrictions on unregistered users and so on. If you can mess with that, it might be possible to find a sweet spot where people are able to search within reason and the server isn't overloaded.

Anyway, what I actually came into this thread to say was that the google search seems to be working better (woo!) but could you stop the 'print' versions of the threads being indexed? It's annoying to click a link without checking the url and having windows throw up the print dialog. As far as I can tell the regular web versions of the pages are being indexed too, so nothing would be missing

The forum software doesn't have any inbuild restrictions to the search engine - but the idea is great, I might do it if the next version (coming out December) is not good enough for our needs...

I made some changes so that the print version has much better layout and the popup-print dialog is gone. About indexing... Google does much better indexing pages with pure text, so to get more search engine hits it's better keep those PrintPage.aspx -pages... but doesn't mean I won't be excluding them from our modified Google Search from peachy - just have to figure out a clean way to do it.

Keep the ideas coming - some of the major things came from the members, like having "preview thumbs" with all threads on the forums... and now it's something we really can't live without! Yes [Y]
