if you haven't yet, go get 1.3. it's a significant upgrade. it now runs in the background to block bad shit. plus it picked up some malware that 1.2 and adaware missed (had to use hijackthis to get rid of it though). also, the spybot guy suggests getting spywareblaster, so go do that too.

awesome. thanks, jch.

i had spybot 1.2 already; but you're right -- 1.3 picked up a couple of things that 1.2 had missed.

I wouldn't scrap it. Ad-aware cought some things for me that Spybot and Hijack This didn't. I typically run all three when I'm checking my system.

In my humble opinion , and I have been testing software for years....Pest Patrol Corporate is the best of the bunch . It slickly combines the seeking power of Spybot and the GUI of Ad Aware into one efficient , quick package . I use PPC along with HijackThis and CWShredder for a power trio second to none . *Note* Spyware and Adware by design are stored primarily in your Temporary Internet Files and registry , so when you run PPC , it will find all of the malware upfront , so when it moves on to search your C/Windows files you can stop it and delete all that it found . It will do this in less than 2 minutes on most systems , depending on how infected your system is . And no PPC is not free and I don't wish to elaborate here , but if you open your eyes , there are many things to be seen . Comprende ?

SpySweeper is a fairly good product and I admire WebRoot software but , by the nature of the beast , it is impossible to say a spy/adware scanner "works perfect" until you run another product directly after it and see what , if anything , it finds that the previous program did not find and so on .
