Test our Mobile Layout!

Everyone's welcome to beta-test the upcoming big Forum layout change and report on this topic what you like / don't like. Also report all kinds of bugs, or strange behaviours (lost links? usability problems etc). All you need is to go to your settings and change your Theme to Mobile. If you find the new theme too confusing, you may come back to old theme by selecting "default" -Theme.

The mobile Layout works on your PC/Mac, but it's also optimised for Mobile phones and tablets as well. Just try resizing the screen and you'll see the beauty of it: the pages will better fit the screen then our current (old) layout.

Like: it looks nice, modern and a lot better than the previous layout (but that's just my opinion).

Don't like: I can't access any model pages anymore! I just clicked on a few of the previews on the homepage, and they all send me back to the homepage. Furthermore, when I tried to revert to the old theme, I noticed that I can't change any preferences in my profile :(

Hope you guys are able to fix the new layout soon!

That doesn't sound right, I'm now looking into it what's the problem.

About not being able to change preferences - did you check from Profile > Edit My Profile > Site Options > Theme and select "Default"?

Or just click here, select Site Options -tab: http://peachyforum.com/user/EditProfile.aspx

My BlackBerry navigates this site pretty well but how do I make it so I get notified when someone posts a new gallery for my favourite models? I get notified already when a conversation I contributed to gets updated but what about the ones I don't contribute to?

As long as were here taking request and I know this has been asked before but it would be nice to have the option to select our favorites page by date instead of just alphabetical.

Hi Vatsis,

It's been a while since I tried to change the layout, but I've just tried it and it looks like it works perfectly!

Thanks!

Daiko

Just a word in edgeways...

Why not get the '(old)' site design and goal updated for the regular PC / tablet users instead of focusing on mobile users.

Mike.

Hi, good question. Our PC/table users are our main visitors and #1 priority for the new layout as well, so it's not "only mobile" but more like "flexible layout". We cannot upkeep more then one layout, since keeping up 2 layouts would mean 2x work... and it would also be confusing experience.

Main goal for PC: support bigger screen sizes (meaning: no fixed width, more viewable area). There are increasing number of people with 28" screens. Also bigger buttons and touch scrolling for touch displays. Also support for super-small window sizes, if someone likes them.

Tablet: support for browsing both 8" and 10" tablet, both horizontally and vertically.

Mobile: make text big, collapse some fields and arrange them vertically and not horizontally. Remove some uninformative images/columns in case the phone resolution small and used vertically. Show them more if phone turned horizontally.

Hi Vatsis   Hope its a good summer there. I get a bit confused, why cant people see peachy on a tablet?, as it is. My old 8in on 'icecream', get this site all be it slowly, and both vertical and horizontal. The little netbook on jellybean, same no problems, just slow, both small memory. Yeah had to give some minor tweaks, just asked on linux forum. Heard on radio today, six year olds more tech savvy than 40 year olds, maybe thats the problem. Drum

Drum:
I had to find this workaround for my tablet and cell phone because of some sites (not this one):
Go to the browser's menu bar and check the "request desktop site" box. It forces the brower to ignore the mobile version. Since you've been on a Linux forum, you probably learned that already. The problem is... on some older software versions, it's difficult or practically impossible to find that option. I have a new Galaxy S5 and the request box practically jumps out at you.

Unless a six-year-old can build a computer from scratch, format the hard drive and install Linux on it, I'm going to ignore any breathless news reports that children in grade school can trump adults in the tech department. Sure, they might be able to take a picture of their before-school pancakes and post it on Pinterest, but that doesn't impress me too much. That said, I have seen high-schoolers who can type faster on their smart phones than I can on my desktop keyboard. Pretty cool.
