hey whats the easiest way i can make vidcaps of avi files?  if i dont need any new software than something in windows, that's great.  otherwise any small easy free programs out there?

I don't think capping is available with the newer versions of WMP (at least since player 8).  I've long since given up on WMP.  I've been using GOM and VLC players for capping & viewing.  Both are free, very easy to use and you don't have to fuck around hunting for codecs either.
