What happened to the most recent and the active posts column on the right hand side of the home page?

I like the "My Discussions" section, I could just pop on and see which threads I'm interested in have been updated.

While on the subject, long time ago the "unanswered posts" went missing, I used to use that a lot to help identify girls for others, but haven't since that went away. Just saying.

Here's to hoping this is just a temporary move and will be corrected in due time.

Also... on the home page, the "active", "my discussions", and "most active users" don't show up anymore. I had to find them by going to "What's New".

It's now in the "What's New"-section.   http://peachyforum.com/blogview.aspx

I do not like it either.  It wasn't the mods choice.  Active mods should be able to have it available at first glance, not forced to open a 2nd window....

Making the front page faster was the main reason for moving those right-hand side topics to "What's new" -section.

Still collecting statistics, but it's obvious the main page loads now many times faster then before. 1-2 secs, when it used to be over 6... almost 10 on "happy hours". Hopefully we can keep it up that way and maybe even make other pages as fast.
I figured as much, it would either be for speed concerns, or perhaps what may have been causing some of the bugs other people report. I'll just change my bookmark to the "what's new" page. Hopefully no one else will follow my lead.

Whatever time saved is now just put into having to open another window. One slightly slower starting point is better than having 2 barely faster ones.

Having a slow starting point is really bad - the regulars know what they are waiting for and don't mind, but new surfers most likely just surf away after a few secs (mostly 4). And if loading time get bad, people hit refresh etc. which just make things worse.

In addition the front page is not just a starting page, it's the integral way of navigating between the forums. Stats show are 6-8 front page loads / active user browsing session. Navigation should be super fast, since only after navigating to thread- or post-list people stop and start reading.

And it's not all about optimization and losing things, more like cleaning up. "Active posts" are nice to know, but not really informative since it doen't give forum name, thumbnail preview or even tell us what is considered "active". "My discussions" would be great if you just posted something and then next day you could check what others have written... however, it doesn't work that way; it digs up old threads you might have dropped a comment a few years ago. Sadly onlyone who it really worked for were people posting "bookmarked" -comments.

Ohhhhhhhhh. Well we're all agreed that Throbbinggristle is the most attuned Peachy user.  If it took me this long to find out that My Discussions has been moved to What's New, and even now simply because it looked like the "Most Recent, Active Posts" thread could also touch on what happened to My Discussions, I suspect that you may be getting queries and complaints about this for quite awhile.  I'd suggest putting a short, little note on the front page, such as "My Discussions moved to What's New page" or "Look on What's New for My Discussions" just temporarily, until we all catch up.  That could fit (temporarily) right in one of the white areas at the top of the home page.

Unlike some of the above posters, I like the move fine.  But I was imagining that My Discussions would be back where it had been in a week or so and the disappearance was simply something to do with the re-indexing business, which is taking up a lot of time and reshaping things.  If Throbbinggristle could be so confused, just think how wrong a lot of the other regulars could be.

And while I'm offering up suggestions for Peachy:  please (along the lines of the Babes 30+ split) separate out the unattractive girls from the women I do find attractive.  This is the 21st Century.  Surely that's a fairly simple programming job for computers by now, isn't it? sorting gals by looks according to the standards of Throbbinggristle?  You don't want Throbbinggristle to have to waste his time glancing at unattractive babes while he's in the mood for some hot poontang? {There's some of the kids' new, hip slang for you.)

I agree with Vastis, I will often ditch a slow loading page, thinking it might be trying to load a virus or something. However, I also agree a banner at the top would be a good idea. I to see how my discussions have gone.
sorry for the stupid question, but how can this section be reached quickly (apart from the direct link in the post quoted above)?

I’ve mentioned it to Vatsis and the other mods and hopefully it will be taken into consideration. Providing links to those missing forum features on the main page without requiring the full query’s that were needed before. Simple links, so it could remain fast for everyone and no one would have to change their bookmarks.
