Mary-Kate Olsen and
Ashley Fuller Olsen (born June 13, 1986) are twin American actresses who have
appeared in television and films since the age of nine months. Despite their near-identical looks, the pair are actually
fraternal rather than identical twins.
The twins began their acting career in 1987 when they were chosen to play the role of Michelle Tanner on a new TV series, "Full House"
(1987/I). The show became a hit with books, dolls, and other
merchandise being sold to promote it, and during the years the show was
on the air, the Olsen twins had a TVQ (popularity rating) second only
to Bill Cosby.
Their first big-budget feature as grown-up teens,
New York Minute,
was released in 2004. In 2004 they moved to New York City to attend New
York University; in 2005 Mary-Kate took a leave of absence from school
to focus on business matters.
Ashley is slightly taller and a few minutes older than Mary-Kate...
Mary-Kate is the one who had the much-publicized eating disorder.
